Barcelona

Barcelona was amazing. We went to so many places in the span of 2 days but my favorite was the gigantic cathedral designed by Gaudí. Antoni Gaudí was born in Catalonia, Spain on June 25, 1852. Catalonia is the region of Spain that Barcelona is in. Recently it has wanted to gain independence from the rest of Spain, but Spain does not like that idea.

Gaudi’s cathedral is called La Sagrada Familia. He designed it based after different things in nature. For example the massive columns in the inside resemble a huge forest. A second example are the stairs leading up to the tower which resemble the inside of shells. My family and I got special tickets to go up one of the finished towers. It was so cool and the view was one of the best. Another thing I loved about the cathedral was the stained glass. On one side of the cathedral where the sun rises is where Gaudí put the cold colors so that the cathedral would fill up with blues and purples in the morning. On the other side of the cathedral is where he put the warmer colors so that in the sunset the cathedral would be filled with reds and yellows. The cathedral is an overall must see even though it isn’t finished being constructed yet.
